Hi everyone,

In addition to the Forum Rules, we have been plagued by a very high number of daily spammers.

For this reason, all other Fora from Bladesign Forum have been rendered unreadable to non members except for the For Sale Forum and this Rules Forum. This is a measure based on the already known fact that we do not seek quantity, but quality members, mature and willing to participate in a creative, urbane, and civilized way.

I take this opportunity to alert new members that they should use their real and full name in all fields, fill the registration fields that refer to their sword preferences, their city, country, profession and all the most basic and identifiable fields.

This is not a popularity contest and we will definitely not tolerate spammers. The scrutiny before approving any registration is done very carefully. Therefore, the more information a new member provides, the better and faster he will be approved.

Thank you.

No problem chief.

The thing about spammers is that they think anyone pays attention to what they sell.

The rest is just deleting their unwanted presence. No big deal
Let's see who tires first ;)

Hmm.. I'm sorry to say, my friend.. But those posts are usually generated by some kind of spamming bots (e.a. automated bits of coded programming) which search the internet for 'unprotected' fora.

Fighting against that is like being a Spartan in the battle of Thermopylae.. A brave attempt, but in the end we will lose this endless battle.

Try contacting some reinforcements however. Your Portugese webmaster (Tiago?) might know something? I have heard of ways to protect these kind of fora on which Bladesign for example is hosted. There must be something that can be done.

Best regards.

One thing you can do is ban entire IP addresses. It helps with the less sophisticated spambots that do not use a random proxy. On the Ethnographic forum we just leave new members sitting in a moderated queue until they post, then moderate the posts. If one makes a legitimate post, they get fully approved and off moderated status. Spammers get immediately zapped, of course. A lot of time, though, the lurkers just stay in the moderated queue because they never post.

Hi folks.

As an addendum to our rules it is obvious that anyone registering with the purpose of marketing his or any production swords will be immediately banned.
Don't try your luck.
